The Student Advice Centre does not normally offer a home visiting service due to limited staff resources.
However, it is recognised that there may be occasions when a client can not leave their home and in such situations, a home visit may be appropriate.
If such a request is made, the Advice Worker should discuss the case with the Student Advice Centre Manager. If the home visit is deemed appropriate, (for example because the client is housebound), then an Advice Worker shall visit the client accompanied by another member of staff. One person shall conduct the interview; the additional member of staff is present for security reasons only and will not be involved in the interview process.
The Advice Centre Manager should be given full contact details of the client before the Advice Workers leave and should be in mobile contact with the Advice Workers. Full case details must be maintained including time of arrival and departure.
