When it comes to saving the planet some people think "O, it doesn't matter if one little tin misses the recycling, I'll just put it in the bin." But what if everyone thought like this? There would be a build up of millions of those 'one tin cans'. Every little bit counts when it comes to recycling and saving the planet and doing your bit doesn't have to be a chore. There are so many ways you can get involved in recycling and saving the planet. SUBU gives you a few ideas here to get you started. We have been supporting www.recyclingcds.com by collecting unwanted CDs and DVDs and sending them to recyclingcds.com to turn them into environmentally friendly gifts. We recycle loads of other things too such as spectacles, printer cartridges, bottles and stamps. Debbie's top tip 1. use biodegradable bin bags for your main rubbish as they are easier to break down! Gio's top tip - rinse out your food can's (i.e. baked beans) as soon as you have used them. The bin men won't take your recycling if it is food contaminated and if you leave it 'til after your dinner it will be 3 times the effort to wash out! Hannah - If you are in halls there should be a separate recycling bin provided next to your normal bin...read the guidelines on our main recycling page for what to recycle. Richards top tip - if you're not in halls get a mini bin next to your normal bin that you can easily use for recycling!...it will cut your rubbish down as well! There is a digram below to help you And finally - THE TOP TIP OF THE WEEK comes from Scott Bellamy (VP Rep) - always put your recycling loose in the bin and NOT in a bag...it defies the whole point and the bin men won't take it away!
