CHICHESTER & BRIGHTON (SATURDAY 10th March 2012) - Trip Cost £20 per person

After an hours drive we will stop off at the historic city of Chichester where we will visit the magnificent cathedral which has stood in the city centre for over 900 years. Famous for its treasures ranging from medieval stone carvings to famous twentieth century artworks, including the John Piper tapestry, you will be given a free guided tour.

Our tour will then continue on to the vibrant and colourful town of Brighton. Arriving at its famous pebble beach, your first view of the town will be of the Victorian pier with its fairground attractions and fun arcade. Your guide will tell you a little about the history of this cosmopolitan town including the Regency architecture and its recent transformation into one of the most fashionable beachfronts in Britain.

You will then be guided through Brighton’s famous Lanes, full of quirky independent shops and boutiques alongside cosy pubs and cafes. Buskers and street entertainers are often found livening up the cobbled streets.

Your guided tour will end at Brighton’s Royal Pavilion, the spectacular seaside palace of Prince Regent George IV and transformed by John Nash in the nineteenth century into one of the most dazzling and exotic buildings in the British Isles.

You will then have four hours to explore for yourselves. You may choose to visit The Pier, eat fish and chips on the beach or spend your afternoon soaking up the culture of The Lanes. Alternatively you can enter The Pavilion for an additional fee of £7.80 (includes audio commentary in a variety of
languages) and marvel at the furniture and works of art including original pieces lent by HM The Queen.

Leaving Brighton at 5.00pm, you can expect to be back in Bournemouth at 7.00 - 7.30pm.
