Who are we and what do we do?

The award-winning Performing Arts Society (PARTS for short!) has been part of the Student Union at Bournemouth University for over 20 years.
The society provides the chance for students from all courses, at both Bournemouth University & Arts University Bournemouth, to come together and share their talents in a variety of areas (including musical theatre, drama, dance, singing, costume, backstage management, tech, hair and make-up, comedy and improv). PARTS has won SUBU’s Event of the Year award for Grease (2014), American Idiot (2017), Half a Sixpence (2019) and Chicago (2020). We have also been the winners of the Community Impact Award (2019) and were runners up in the National Society Awards for Best Student-Led event in 2016. In 2019, PARTS put on a 6-show production of 'Chicago' at the Shelley Theatre. The show was a huge success and our cast and backstage team had an amazing time rehearsing and preparing for the show.  Also last year in 2023  we did an amazing production of Rent in the Palace Court Theatre. Each new musical we do we get such talent form onstage and backstage making our standards higher every year.

Each year the society stages a full-scale musical production in the Spring term and we also host two to three showcases each academic year, allowing all our members of the society to show off their hidden talents. We also love providing workshops for members to increase their skill set and help them gain confidence in a variety of areas. And PARTS isn’t just for performers, we have opportunities for students interested in tech, hair, makeup, costuming and more!

When and Where?

This year, our main meeting times will be on Monday and Thursday evenings taking place at the Talbot campus. This will most likely change every week as we will also be hosting social events and workshops at different points throughout each semester. All members are also welcome to join us for our movie nights every friday!
