Crucially we also manage an effective Student Representation feedback system of elected representatives for every course and school, allowing students who are on these programmes to communicate with their course about the issues affecting them. We understand that students invest a lot of money and time in their courses and so want to achieve the best level of education possible. The Course Rep system is used across all Bournemouth University Campuses and colleges and is in place to ensure your voice gets heard and your educational experience is the best it can be. Again Sam will be your point of contact for the Rep System; he will be delivering training and ensure he gets your feedback on a course basis. Representation is kind of the whole reason for the Students’ Union. It’s all about finding out how students feel about issues affecting their student life and communicating this to the university, amplifying the students’ voice, speaking for students’, individual or group needs and opinions.
Essentially the Students’ Union is run for students by students through the Executive Committee. This is a group of students who are elected by you, represent you and direct the SUBU.
As well as the spring term vote-fest that is elections (look out for free cake), General Meetings are your chance to actually address SUBU and your fellow students with whatever burning issue is affecting you most at the time. Previous meetings have seen smoking banned in Dylan’s before the national smoking ban, and an increase in buses for Corfe House, the Poole hall of residence.
