The Old Fire Station is the Students’ Union’s award winning nightclub. Student prices, a student vibe and student-centric nights are the theme here, but without the grubby spit and sawdust feel of its contemporaries. Set in a listed fire station building at the top of Bournemouth town, a range of diverse nights out are on offer, in very pleasant surroundings. The Old Fire Station is open on average three nights a week, sometimes more, sometimes less, with most nights dedicated solely to students, whilst occasionally they let the public in for live acts, and big nights such as We Are Your Friends (the Fire Station’s sell-out monthly glowstick waver). Over the past year the Fire Station has been host to acts such as Hadouken!, Bloc Party, Pigeon Detectives, The Subways, Kano, The Hoosiers, Just Jack and Chappers and Dave.
When the club is open to the public, students are given wristbands (just show your student card at the door) to ensure that they still receive student-priced drinks (read: cheap) meaning you can still have a cheap night, and feel superior to those that have to work for a living.
