Registering on the SUBU Website

Registering with the SUBU website enables you to buy tickets to key SUBU events and nights out, join societies and submit your ideas about the improvement of the University and Union. 

 

New Students

If you are a new student starting in September or have recently arrived at BU please follow these simple steps to complete your registration.

Step 1: Sign into your student email account provided by the university. Your university email address will start with an i and will have been sent to you with a password as part of your Welcome Pack (e.g. i7949114@bournemouth.ac.uk). You can sign into your account through the Student Portal at: http://studentportal.bournemouth.ac.uk/ (there is a link at the bottom of the page that says ‘Student Email’).

Step 2: Look for a confirmation email from SUBU. If you have completed your online registration with the BU website, you may have been automatically automatic registered with the SUBU website. If you have there will be a confirmation email in your university email inbox. Simply click the link in the email and follow the instructions to complete your registration. Please note this may take up to 48 hours.

 

If you have not been registered automatically and/or do NOT have a confirmation email you can proceed to the following steps and register manually.

 

Step 3: (Manual Registration) Go to www.subu.org.uk and sign in/register using your university email address will start with an i and will have been sent to you with a password as part of your Welcome Pack (e.g. i7949114@bournemouth.ac.uk). When asked for a password, select ‘No I’m new here’ and follow the instructions until you are told your confirmation email has been sent.

Step 4: Look for a confirmation email from SUBU. There will be a confirmation email in your university email inbox. Simply click the link in the email and follow the instructions to complete your registration. You can sign into your account through the Student Portal at: http://studentportal.bournemouth.ac.uk/ (there is a link at the bottom of the page that says ‘Student Email’).

Current Students

Please Note: AS OF AUGUST 2013, THIS IS A NEW SUBU WEBSITE. If you have a pre August 2013 login for our website, this will no longer work and you will need to register. Current students can follow all the same steps above.

AUB or Partner College Students

AUB and Partner College Students will need to begin the registration process from Step 3 and register manually.

* PLEASE NOTE: without a Bournemouth University email account you may not be eligible to purchase Arrivals Week Wristbands.*

Former Students

Those who have left the University should register as a Guest and may register with any email address.

 

Other FAQs

I don’t know how to access my university email inbox

You can sign into your account through the Student Portal at: http://studentportal.bournemouth.ac.uk/ (there is a link at the bottom of the page that says ‘Student Email’). Please note you may have difficulty accessing this on a mobile or tablet device. Please try again using a laptop or computer. The BU IT Service Desk can help you do this (01202 965515).

 

I have accidentally registered as a Guest

You may have initially registered with a personal email account. You will need to register with your university email account (e.g. i7949114@bournemouth.ac.uk). You will have received this in your Welcome Pack. If you have used a personal account such as Hotmail, yahoo, googlemail etc the site will not recognise you as a student. Please follow Steps 3 and 4 above to re-register with the correct email address.

I need to change my password

Sign into the SUBU website and select ‘Your Account/Profile’ from the drop-down menu by your name in the top right hand corner of the page. Select ‘Change Password’ from the left hand option bar.

 

I've forgotten my password

I need request a new activation email is sent to me

I need to reset or change my date of birth

Sign into the SUBU website and select ‘Your Account/Profile’ from the drop-down menu by your name in the top right hand corner of the page. Select ‘My Details’ from the left hand option bar. There you will be able to update your date of birth.

 

I am not receiving emails to my student email account

Please note you may have difficulty accessing this on a mobile or tablet device. Please try again using a laptop or computer. If you are confident that your inbox is receiving no incoming mail, please contact the BU IT Service Desk (01202 965515).

 

I can't get past the Google Captcha/Spam Check: Please follow the relevant instructions below, dependent on your web browser...

If you're using Google Chrome, click on the shield icon in the top right corner of your address bar and select: 'Load unsafe script'.

 

If you're using Google Firefox, click on the shield icon in the top left corner of your address bar and select: 'Disable Protection on this Page'.

 

If you're using Internet Explorer, click 'Show all content' on the pop-up banner at the bottom of your screen.
