The role of the Academic Staff
Academic staff play a crucial role in ensuring the Student Rep system works to improve the education here at BournemouthUniversity as well as identifying good practices within each programme.
In a recent Student Rep survey, it was found that communication between student reps, the VP Representation and staff was the main area needed for improvement on last year, so it is key that all members of staff are aware of how the rep system and the role that they play.

Selection and training
With the meetings that reps are expected to attend coming so soon in the first term, it is important that Reps are selected and trained within a short space of time.
With this in mind the Student rep training will take place between the dates of 13th-24th October. This means that staff are urged to elect student reps within the first week of the academic term.
Academic Administration Managers will be given Rep Cards prior to the year which they will distribute to the rlevatn Programme Administrators.
When a rep is selected, it is crucial that staff direct the Rep to the Programme Administrator to receive their Rep card which will detail the training dates and venues.
They will need to sign up for these sessions as there will be limited space on each.
They will not be registered as a Student Rep if they have not signed up and receive their Rep card.
Most importantly, Programme Leaders are asked to provide the names of reps to Programme Administrators as in previous years so that names can be put onto unit-e as soon as possible.
