ARC is a national environmantal charity specialising in the conservation of Britains native amphibians and reptiles (herpetofauna), we do this through managing 85 reserves across the UK, outreach with landowners and local communities and lobying at all levels of Government. We work in parrtnership with many national and local groups/ organisations to promote our native wildlife and thier habitats.
We have weekly site based conservation tasks in Dorset and from our office in the Weald (Hmapshire/Surrey) including scrub management, sand creation and pond conservation. Thier are oportunities to undertake surveying and help with data and mapping work in our Boscombe office.
We are looking for motivated and sociable people for weekly conservation tasks on our heathland reserves around Bournemouth and Poole focusing on habitats and features used by amphbians and reptiles. Learn the basics of nature reserve management and gain practical skills in the use of tools and management techniques, all tools and training provided along with tea and doughnuts! Tasks range from scrub clearance (mainly winter and with a bonfire) to creating sand scrapes for sand lizards, pond maintenance and creation to waymarking and construction tasks.
