International Commencement Ceremony

Join the Vice-Chancellor, BU staff, special guests and 500 international students for a special event formally celebrating the beginning of your journey as a BU student. 

This year's keynote speaker is Kate Kinninmont MBE, producer & director and Cheif Executive of Women in Film and Television, the leading organisation for women working in the creative media in the UK.

The International Commencement Ceremony (ICC) is an annual event that emphasises the value we place on having an internationally diverse learning community at BU. Every September, the BU and Dorset community come together to give a very special welcome to our newest international students at the Bournemouth International Centre. The ICC has been attended by over 1200 people in the last two years, and we have welcomed special guests such as Paul Franklin (Oscar winner and BU Alumnus), Lord Karan Bilimoria, and bestselling author, Sophie Kinsella.

This event takes place at the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) in the town centre, but free buses will be provided to take you from Talbot Campus to the BIC. Click here for further information.
