Become a Carbon Literate Student!
Become officially accredited ‘Carbon Literate’ with our short, Carbon Literacy training course led by the BU Sustainability Team. Learn about carbon, the climate crisis and what you can do to take action!
Climate change is widely recognised as one of the greatest, and most urgent challenges facing humankind. This challenge has been recognised internationally, within the UK, and Bournemouth. As part of our Climate & Ecological Crisis Plan (CECAP) action, we want to make sure our you feel both able and inspired to take climate action.
The Carbon Literacy course was created by Manchester Metropolitan University, and run by the BU Sustainability Team. The course will give you an overview of the basic science of climate change as well as an understanding of the actions required by governments, universities and individuals in order to avoid the worst impacts of climate change and set us on a path towards a more sustainable future.
The course consists of a 6-hour in person workshop, with approximately 1 hours of pre-study before the workshop. You will also be required to create pledges to evidence your learning and become certified as Carbon Literate.
On completion of the course, you will receive a certificate which certifies you as ‘Carbon Literate’. Holding this certification will demonstrate your commitment to climate action to future employers.
Sign up here! There are limited spaces, which will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. Applications will close on Monday 11th November to give all participants time to complete the pre-study.
This event is organised by BU Sustainability and advertised by SUBU.
