This month we have a quiz night with lots of great prizes, plus pizza, drinks and ice-cream. Join a multi-cultural team and test your global knowledge! The more nationalities in your team, the better chance you have of winning one of our amazing prizes! A great way to make new friends from all over the world. Bring a British friend with you too if you like!

When you join us as a student at BU, you must collect your student ID card or get your international documents checked to complete your enrolment. You need to do this as soon as possible, as you won’t be able to start your timetabled teaching sessions until you have completed this.

To complete your enrolment, you will need to visit the time and location relevant to your School in your first week to collect your student ID card and complete your international document check.

Your International Orientation Day will take place on Thursday 24 September on Talbot Campus. You should arrive in the Fusion Building at 8.45am. The conference-style day will include:

A welcome from BU’s Vice-Chancellor and CEO, Professor Alison Honour. (tbc)

Information about practical things like opening bank accounts, registering with a doctor and public transport, personal safety and UK laws

Workshops about:

- Academic and English language support for international students

- British culture and culture shock

- Budgeting, saving money and where to shop

- Careers support and tips for finding a part-time job

An overview of extra-curricular opportunities to help you make friends and get the most out of your time in Bournemouth

The chance to talk to a variety of support services at the lunchtime information fair, including Careers, Wellbeing, Faith & Reflection, Dorset Police and more

Free breakfast and lunch

A traditional British Afternoon Tea at the end of the afternoon, served with sparkling wine – a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and chat to faculty and professional services staff. Don’t miss it!

All international students starting at BU this September are expected to attend, so it will be a great opportunity to meet new students from other courses and faculties

We have loaner decks and play matts for you to play with so no worries if you haven't got what you need with you, due to high demand from last year tickets at £2 but on a normal night it's free to join us in a Monday for Magic Mondays and Thursday for Magic Thursdays.

Whether you have never danced before or already have some experience, everyone is welcome. Our friendly coaches will introduce you to some of the basics of Ballroom and Latin dancing in a fun and relaxed environment, with no previous experience or special skills needed.

You will have the chance to try different dances, meet other students and get a feel for what BLDS is all about. It is a great opportunity to step outside your comfort zone, learn something new and hopefully make some new friends along the way.
