The Big Give

The Big Give is SUBU's biggest sustainability campaign of the year, which all students can be a part of.

It's an end of year move out campaign where we encourage students to clear out their unwanted clothing and household items, before going going to the Summer Ball and going home for the summer.

Last year students raised over £31,052 simply by donating their unwanted clothes and bric-a-brak to The British Heart Foundation.

  • Last year over  2218 bags were collected.
  • Equivalent to 17.7 tonnes diverted from waste streams,
  • saving 180,581kgs of C02 gas emissions,
  • and the weight of 2.9 elephants going to landfill.

Over 100 duvets, pillows and sleeping bags were donated to a local animal welfare charity.

Over 60kgs of unopened non-perishable food was donated to a local foodbank and a homeless charity.

From April there will be various donation bins and banks on campus, in halls, and in Winton, where you will be able to donate your unwanted end of year clothes and clutter.
