Student Projects

If you are looking to get even more involved with SUBU Volunteering then one of our student-led projects might be up your street.

Each project has two dedicated Student Leaders who set the project aims and organise the students that are involved. The projects are varied but they all have long term goals and will warmly welcome any student regardless of experience to join the team.

With support and training provided by SUBU these projects are a way for students to develop themselves, enhance their CV’s and increase their confidence. Every year we recruit new leaders to take charge and develop the projects. If this sounds like something you would be interested in then get involved!

The Alzheimer’s Society – run ‘Singing for the Brain’ & ‘Memory Café’ sessions.

SUBU Conservation Rangers Project – care for local woodland and making it safe for all.

Bournemouth Beach Champions – work hard to clean and protect our beaches.

Slades Farm Community Garden – help to maintain an urban farm near to the Talbot campus.

Project Paint - design and paint murals for schools, care homes and local community buildings.

Project Brownsea – Learning about and protecting the environment

Meyrick Park Conservation Project (Conservation Rangers)

Sgt Steve Houston from the Safer Neighbourhood Team praises the Meyrick Park Conservation team:

“You only have to speak to local residents to understand the full impact that the BU Students work has made. The area feels safer and the students have made a real contribution.I can’t speak highly enough of them.”
