Setting up a petition is one of the ways that students can influence decisions and decide upon Union Policy. Petitions can also be used to hold Union Officers to account or to call a referendum on any issue or policy.
You must be a current BU student to submit a proposal for a petition. The petition must contain the students’ full name and their University ID number.
Once a petition has been submitted, the Executive Committee shall review the submission within two calendar weeks and, if the Executive Committee approves the petition, it shall be made available on the system for other students to sign. The Executive Committee may request a student to amend a petition or refuse to approve a petition if it believes, for example, that it breaches University or Union policies, or is not sufficiently clear.
If you want advice on your own petition, you can arrange to meet with a member of the Democracy and Equality team by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or popping into our offices on the 4th Floor of the Student Centre.
There are no current petitions.
