As a room guide, you don't need to be a history buff, but you will be engaging and talking to our visitors to encourage them to find out more about the Castle’s history.
Gives visitor facing experience on your CV to build a strong application for your first paid job.
A diverse role, you’ll be chatting to visitors about the Castle, helping families complete their quizzes as well as keeping an eye on our displays and exhibitions.
Most of our shifts are split into half days but you can do a full day if you prefer.
Morning shift - 10:00 -13:oo
Afternoon shift 1300 -16:00

• Friendly out-going nature
• Good communication skills
• Interest in history
Induction, Training and Support Provided
• A full site induction and training will be provided
• Additional training in other areas of interest in the Castle
• Ongoing training for all volunteers as required

Training available
On-the-job training for front of house experience at visitor attractions. Online training on GDPR and Safe Guarding.
There is additional opportunities to learn how to be a tour guide.
Transport details
More Bus service from Bournemouth (X1 and X2 route), with a stop right outside the Castle next to the Lord Bute Hotel. This service runs every 30 mins Mon-Sat and on Sundays every two hours. OR Train to Hinton Admiral station and then 25 min walk to the Castle.
