AFC Bournemouth extended their unbeaten run to nine games as they were held by Brentford in a 0-0 draw.

Andoni Iraola made two chances coming into the game. Evanilson replaced Eli Junior Kroupi and Ryan Christie replaced David Brooks.

It was a slow opening 15 minutes as both teams struggled to create a clear-cut chance.

The first real chance came for the cherries through Marcus Tavernier. A ricocheted ball of Jordan Henderson fell to Tyler Adams.

The ball found Tavernier who curled his effort just wide of the right-hand post.

Alex Scott also had a strike from range however it was always rising and flew over the bar.

It was a flurry of opportunities for the Cherries. One after the other.

James Hill was found by a great cross in the penalty area. The centre-back’s header was poor and flew over the bar.

An even worse miss happened just after Hill’s effort. Dancing feet from Ryan Christie and a neat pass to him by Evanilson had the Scot one on one with Kelleher.

Instead of shooting, Christie tried to go round Kelleher and his touch took the ball out of play.

The half ended with yet another Cherries chance. Alex Scott found Tavernier with a delightful cross-field ball which the winger couldn’t tuck away.

Iraola’s side started the second half at great pace with Tavernier hitting the post within the first minute.

With twenty minutes left to go, it was the Cherries who looked most likely to score the opener however Brentford were holding strong.

Tavernier hit the post again with a soaring effort. A blistering counter-attack and a through ball from Evanilson had Tavernier through on goal.

His left-footed effort once again struck the post.

Iraola’s side had the ball in the net finally however they were denied by the linesman’s flag.

Evanilson used his tricky feet to get past multiple Brentford defenders and finished it past Kelleher. The Brazilian was found to be a few feet offside.

The game ended with the same scoreline as it had started. The Bees holding the Cherries to a 0-0 draw.

The point takes Iraola and his side to 40 points in the table with a trip to Burnley coming up.
