AFC Bournemouth came back from 1-0 down to claim a point against 3rd place Aston Villa
Ex Cherry Morgan Rogers struck early in the first half to give Aston Villa the lead at half time.
19-year-old debutant Rayan struck low in the bottom corner to equalise for Bournemouth in the second half.
Andoni Iraola made one change to the side that beat Wolves 2-0 in the last game. 19-year-old Rayan coming in for Adam Smith.
It was the Brazilian’s first start for the Cherries after his move from Vasco de Gama in the January transfer window.
The first chance came early for the Cherries. Adli found Scott with a neat touch and his goal-bound effort was deflected for a corner.
Martinez was troubled again as Kroupi fired from range. The Argentinian spilled it to Evanilson whose header found Martinez’s arms.
The Cherries had clearly worked on set plays in training. A neatly worked free-kick found Kroupi who fired just wide of the post.
Ollie Watkins had the ball in the net for the visitors in the 20th minute. It was quickly ruled out for offside by the linesman.
A minute later, Aston Villa did have the lead. Neat play from Jadon Sancho found Morgan Rogers who smashed the ball past Djorde Petrovic into the roof of the net.
Evanilson had a carbon copy chance to one earlier. Martinez spills Scott’s shot and it falls to Evanilson. His effort was well saved by Martinez.
From the resulting corner, Rayan was gifted a free header which hit the the woodwork.
The Cherries had their equaliser in the second half thanks to debutant Rayan. The Brazilian got past Digne with ease and smashed his effort low into the bottom corner.
The goal gave the home team an immediate bounce as Iraola’s side pushed for a second; Aston Villa struggled to get out of their own half.
Iraola’s side dominated proceedings after their equaliser with the visitors looking leggy as the second half went on.
Ryan Christie had a long range effort saved by Martines, who was being kept busy all half.
The Cherries couldn’t find a deserved winner and Andoni Iraola had to settle for a point with his team having 20 shots at Martinez.
Iraola and his side don’t have long to wait before their next league game as they travel to Everton.
The result leaves the Cherries 11th in the Premier League table.
