Popular musical Annie will run at the Bournemouth Pavillion Theatre this week.

Put together by the Bournemouth and Boscombe Light Opera Company, the 1977 musical will be brought to life from 7:30pm this evening and will repeat performances until Saturday.

The company has been putting on productions for the local community since 1954 and has been on stage at the Bournemouth Pavillion Theatre since 1956.

Their previous show in May of this year – Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - was deemed such a success, it inspired another week of performances in the Autumn.

Jonathan Busk, who plays Daddy Warbucks, was cast for Annie in July, alongside a collection of young performers who have had the chance to perform on a big stage for the first time, thanks to the company.

Jonathan believes the children are the centre of the show, telling Nerve Online that “seeing them arrive there over the weekend, walk on the stage and go wow - that's the most rewarding part”.

While the musical has “moments talking about the depression in 1930s America" and "orphans who don't have the most happy life in the orphanage," Jonathan said hopes the audience will leave feeling uplifted due to it ending “on a big high with the goodies coming out on top”.

The Bournemouth and Boscombe Light Opera Company has a history of giving back to their community, with their focus to give back to charities.

They have donated a total of £60,000 over the past 60 years.

Jonathan agrees that the company should focus on giving back to the local area, saying “It's important to remember we’re a part of a bigger community and say thank you”.

The production will be running for a total of 4 days, with their final show being 1st of November at 7:30pm.
