Fans of LEGO gathered at the Bournemouth Brick Festival to share their love for the hobby.

Held at the Bournemouth International Centre, displays of original creations were everywhere for people to see along with vendors selling retired sets along.

One display was a vintage collection highlighting LEGOs history as a toy brand, put together by a couple who were given some after the passing of a friend.

Laura Taylor, one of the vintage collectors said: “We’ve been going for about three years with the vintage, so we’re still quite new to it, but it’s all we do now.

“We’re always looking for new things, always buying new things for the display.”

James Ball, vendor at the festival, said: “during the pandemic, I found I that I was just watching screens and I wanted to find something that wasn’t screen based.

“My friend suggested I should try LEGO and I was like ‘Well that’s for kids. So why would I do that?’ I saw they did this 18+ range, and it gave me something to do and took my mind away from the pandemic.”

He continued: “from there, every time I bought a set, I bought a second one and put it in the loft and I do this now to make money to buy my own sets for my own collection.”

Alanna Germon, a volunteer for the festival, said: “the displayers will change very much each show because they usually tend to be fairly local, just because of the costs of travelling.”

Some unique builds to the festival are always present but unique ones appear every year the event runs in cities across the UK.
