Bournemouth-based radio producer Chris Bailey will bring a documentary featuring late Faithless singer Maxi Jazz to Dorset early next year.
A Love Letter to Vinyl will be screened in Patch, in Bobbys, by Bournemouth Square, and will feature a live DJ soundtrack.
The feature-length piece explores the philosophy and origins of listening to music on vinyl records and guests include DJs Ashley Beedle, Seamus Haji and Maxi Jazz, the late lead singer with dance group Faithless.
Chris directed and produced the documentary himself and has screened it around the country.
In conversation with Nerve Online, Chris said: “A Love Letter to Vinyl came about from a project I wanted to start 10 years ago.
“I had some good contacts as a result of working all over the place. That enabled me to arrange interviews with different producers and industry side people.”
“I’d never made a film before, and I was trying to make a fancy documentary, but it turned out wrong. There were plenty of days I was like, why am I doing this?”
A Love Letter to Vinyl also features interviews with record shop owners, DJs and academics.
The documentary was set to be screened this November, though it has been pushed back to early next year due to logistical issues.
A date for the screening will be announced soon.
Chris also teaches how to DJ in his Bournemouth Town Centre- based workspace.
