Ahead of his appearance at the Poole Lighthouse this weekend, award winning stand up comedian, Ahir Shah, spoke exclusively to Nerve whilst in the ‘midst of shuttling around’ the country.

The Mock the Week and Have I Got News For You star will be rounding off the UK leg of his Ends tour on Saturday, March 15.

He revealed the show is all about family:

"The idea became to try and do 60 years of family history in 60 minutes,” Ahir said.

"Particularly the story of the generation who never talked about the situations they were going through, but is a critical part of what makes us who we are now.”

The Poole show is one of the last on Ahir’s two-and-a-half year journey on the Ends tour.

He’ll be heading out to India, Australia and New Zealand before a final performance at the legendary Soho Theatre in London in May.

"At the time I first started thinking about [the show], it was a little while before I got married,” Ahir said.

He explained that with ‘one of those events,’ he found himself thinking about who he knows who can relate to the situation.

Having ‘been in this game a while,’ Ahir joked he already knew which bus to get to make it to the Poole Lighthouse, a venue he has performed at before.

Since the initial idea of the tour in 2022, Ahir explained how it has changed over time - and not just the change in Prime Ministers.

"The lovely thing about stand-up is it’s never really done.

"It’s constantly changing as you want to keep it alive and fresh.”

He added he loves the ‘immediacy’ of the job, rather than being a writer or filmmaker who have to wait years to get an audience reaction.
