University science experiment prompts Fire Service call out

Smoke from a science experiment saw fire crews called to Bournemouth University.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue were called at 10.59am today (Friday) to a premises off Fern Barrow, Poole to reports of smoke.

Three crews from Springbourne, Redhill Park and Westbourne attended the scene, where they found smoke caused by a science experiment.

Crews used a gas monitor and thermal imaging camera to test the area.

They also reset the smoke alarm.

Crews stopped at 11.25am.

As previously reported by Nerve Online, smoke alarms were heard from Poole House and the building was evacuated.
