Dear Postgraduate Research Students,
We have previously written to you to tell you about the changes to the university’s structure, which we are currently making and the subsequent reduction of staff expected as a result. As part of this process, we consulted with all staff on our proposals. That consultation has finished and we are now transitioning into our new organisational structure. As a result, the names of faculties, departments and some support teams are changing, as well as how they are structured.
What this means for you
You will automatically be assigned to the appropriate faculty and school in the new structure, and you will see this in ProGRess and other systems, as appropriate.
Your supervisory team will remain the same, unless you’re notified otherwise.
The continuity of your supervision is a priority. We expect that many of you won’t be impacted by the changes. If we do anticipate you will be affected in any way, we’ll contact you individually. If we do need to make a change to your supervisory arrangements, please rest assured that we remain committed to ensuring you have an excellent research degree experience, and for your research to continue as unaffected as possible. Your academic and faculty team is working hard to minimise any possible disruption to you.
I recognise that the current changes may cause you some concern. The changes do not lessen our firm commitment to research at BU, or to your own research study.
If you have questions or concerns about your supervisory arrangements, please contact the Doctoral College.
You can also access support from the Student Wellbeing Team or by visiting the University Retreat. The student assistance programme from Health Assured is available for you to access 24/7 and offers support in over 200 languages.
The Faith & Reflection team provides a quiet space on campus, whether or not you have a faith.
