The Student’s Union at Bournemouth University (SUBU) is a student-led organisation. Every year, BU students vote to elect a team of four Full-Time Officers - each responsible for a different area - to represent them for a year. They help lead SUBU and play an active role in the student community, working to improve the student experience at BU.
Earlier this year, Esther Isaiah, Oluwasijibomi Fola Akande, Jeffery Ononiwu and Victoria Okupevi were chosen to be your 2025/26 Full-Time Officers; they have taken office over the summer and are already working on multiple projects that aim to make your time at university the best it can be.
Get to know them and hear what they have to say about their aspirations for this academic year ahead!
Esther Isaiah – SU President
Returning as your SU President for a second year, Esther is ready to continue to be your principal representative and advocate for changes you want to see within the University. This is of course balanced with the desire to work with her fellow FTO’s in creating exciting events for students, so you continue to have a great experience on and off campus.
Esther has 3 priorities for this upcoming year:
- Adequate cost of living support for all students
- Raise awareness and accessibility of mental health and disability support
- Providing more jobs on campus and preparation for life post-uni.
She’s friendly, empathetic and hardworking and loves to cook and host friends in her free time. Badminton is a new hobby of Esther’s: She’s definitely one to watch out for on the court…
Oluwasijibomi Fola Akande – Vice President Education
One of our newest editions to the FTO team is Siji, following her studies of International Commercial Law and now is your VP Education. She’s bubbly and passionate about all thing’s education! In her spare time, she loves to knit and crochet new items for her wardrobe- we have a fashionista on our hands!
Siji will be your voice regarding education in meetings and policy, aiming to bridge the gap between theory and practise of learning!
Her other priorities include, the expansion of online library access, to promote inclusive support for all ALS students and bring more activities to Lansdowne Campus.
Jeffery Ononiwu – Vice President Student Opportunities
Also back for another year is Jeffery, who, former to his role as VP Student Opportunities, received a MA Film and TV Production. He’s energetic and creative, loving to get stuck in and involved in social media content and filming videos- he’s a natural in front of the camera!
As VP Student Opportunities, Jeff’s role is to encourage students to join clubs and societies, make you aware of volunteering opportunities and help find you jobs and placements.
To do this, he aims to work with CareersBU, to create more job opportunities. He also plans to continue his venture of bringing TED Talks to BU!
Victoria Okupevi – Vice President Welfare & Community
Your new VP Welfare & Community, Victoria, has just completed her MA Business Administration and is excited to join the team! She is extremely enthusiastic and can’t wait to get stuck in- her enthusiasm and love for this role almost equates to her love for Beyoncé (and that’s huge).
Her job is to represent you and make campus feel more like home. She is committed to making students feel safe and supported on and off campus and aims to promote BU as socially sustainable, where no student feels left out.
Her plan is to create new and exciting events, extending across campuses, to be inclusive and acknowledge students from all different areas, uniting BU as a community.

BU students will have the chance to meet your new Full-Time Officers during various events throughout the year. If you want to contact any of your FTOs in the meantime, you can pop by their office on the first floor of the Student Centre on Talbot Campus, or drop them an email:
