November marks Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, which looks to raise awareness about preventable health issues in men, encourage them to prioritise their mental health and challenge the stigma of men talking openly.
Here at SUBU, from 10-16 November, we are highlighting on what this means to our male students at Bournemouth University.
Through a series of events and social media campaigns, we want to create a space for men to speak up about how they feel and remind everyone that no issue is too small to talk about.
As part of Men’s Mental Health Week, we have created a powerful video across our social media that focuses on men’s mental health and highlights some of the struggles and insecurities men may face. The style of video allowed participants to remain anonymous, giving them the freedom to be honest about something that is worrying them, or something that they typically wouldn’t feel comfortable with other people knowing.
Our aim is to show that no one should feel alone and that by talking about our struggles can help spread awareness and create positive change.
You can find the video HERE.
We also sat down with three male students to hear their views on men’s mental health and the challenges men face day-to day. The full conversation is now available on our YouTube channel.
