Stations in the South Region of the Student Radio Association are collaborating on their third marathon broadcast, the ‘Round the Clock Radio Challenge 3’.

The challenge is a 24-hour charity stream, created by Joshua Dodd in 2022 as a part of his South Regional Officer role in the Student Radio Association. The first challenge was hosted at PURE FM in Portsmouth, and the second at Nerve Radio in Bournemouth. Both events have jointly raised over £1400 for charity and have become an annual tradition for the region. The challenge has collected 5 national awards and raised the profile for student stations in the South of England.

Following on from Joshua Dodd as the SRA’s current South Regional Officer, Pip Hemingway has organised the ‘Round the Clock Radio Challenge 3’ and will be one of the host presenters for the event. She said: “The fact that this challenge is happening again is testament to the passion students in the South have for Radio. Taking part in the first ever challenge, to now organising the third is such a proud moment for me, and I’m very grateful to all the students from PURE, Surge and Nerve radio for getting involved.”

This year’s broadcast, which will be hosted again at the Nerve Radio studio on Bournemouth University’s Talbot Campus, will begin at 12 noon on 28 June 2025. The stream will feature a colourful selection of shows from talented presenters across Bournemouth, Portsmouth and Southampton, including a pub quiz, interviews and a DJ set too. You can listen via Nerve Radio’s online Player. All donations will be in support of Sophie’s Legacy, Simon Says, Journey of a Lifetime Trust and Teenage Cancer Trust.

Jacob Dyer, Nerve Radio’s Station Manager, said: “I am delighted that Nerve Radio will be hosting The Round the Clock Radio Challenge again this year. Last year it was incredible to see the stations come together for the mammoth broadcast - I can’t wait to do it all again”
