The Students’ Union at Bournemouth University’s (SUBU) award-winning radio station, Nerve Radio, brought home five awards at the 2025 Student Radio Association (SRA) Awards.
The station won Gold for Best Event Programming and Silver for Best Technical Achievement for their live broadcast from the Students’ Union annual festival, SUBU Summer Ball.
Led by last year’s Station Manager Jacob Dyer, and Head of Digital Tech & Streaming Andrew Carter, the team delivered a 13-hour live broadcast from the festival site. They streamed a variety of performances and capturing the atmosphere of one of SUBU’s biggest events of the year.
Nerve Radio also received Silver for Best Station Branding and Bronze for Best Chart Show Programme.
Jacob Dyer, Nerve Radio’s Station Manager for 2024-25, was also awarded Bronze for Best Presenter, recognising his creativity and professionalism.
Jacob said: “We’re absolutely thrilled with these results. Our broadcast of SUBU’s Summer Ball was one of our most ambitious projects, and to have it recognised nationally with a Goldaward is amazing.
“I am unbelievably proud of every single person who has been involved with Nerve Radio and helped make this happen. We work incredibly hard, so to be recognised by experts in the industry with two Bronze, two Silver and a Gold award genuinely means the absolute world to us.”

More than 200 students and industry guests attended the awards the ceremony, including some of the biggest names in broadcast talent and senior management from public, commercial and independent networks, agencies and companies around the UK.

Seeing the team go from strength to strength and receive national recognition for their work is truly inspiring.”
Nerve Radio, part of SUBU, offers Bournemouth University students hands-on experience in broadcasting, production and content creation. Many of its alumni have gone on to successful careers in professional radio, media and entertainment.
