The Students’ Union at Bournemouth University (SUBU) has been shortlisted for the Best Students’ Union at the 2026 WhatUni Student Choice Awards.
SUBU is the only students’ union in the region to be included on this year’s shortlist, following its recognition as ‘Best Students’ Union in the South West’ for the past two years.
The shortlisting also represents a significant rise nationally, with SUBU having placed 23rd last year.
Bournemouth University (BU) has also been shortlisted in a submission-based category for its work supporting students with the cost of living.
The WhatUni Student Choice Awards are the UK’s largest annual university awards, based entirely on student reviews. They celebrate the dedication and impact of higher education providers in delivering outstanding student experiences.
Andy Squire, Chief Executive Officer at SUBU, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be shortlisted for Best Students’ Union. Whatever the final result, this recognition is a powerful reflection of our commitment to make BU students the happiest in the country.
“A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to share their thoughts through the WhatUni survey – we can’t wait to hear the final result!”
Winners of the WhatUni Student Choice Awards 2026 will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on Thursday 21 May.
