We are deeply saddened by the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria, and wanted to reach out to our students who may be affected by these devastating events.

We recognise this may be a worrying time for some, and we want to reassure you that SUBU is here for you.

Our SUBU Advice team are here to listen and support you. They can also signpost you to other services available. Reach out to them or book an appointment with an advisor subu.org.uk/advice

The Student Assistance Programme  provides a free, confidential helpline, the Faith & Reflection service offers a quiet place on campus, guidance, prayer and a listening ear and there are many wellbeing resources available at BU.

If you feel your studies or research could be affected, please reach out to your personal tutor and Faculty staff, they will be able to support you.

For those wishing to make a donation, several charities have started emergency appeals, including the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC). The UK Government will match your donation and you'll help to provide vital medical care, emergency shelter, food and clean water.

Donating money through trusted charities and aid organisations is one of the best ways to help, as money can be transferred quickly to areas where it is needed and used to buy what is most needed in affected areas.

More information on the University’s response following the earthquake can be found here.
