Submit abstracts for a chance to present at the international conference and win a one-month research trip to Malaysia!

SUNRISE (Supporting University Network for Research in Sustainability Engagement) Inspirational International Sustainability Research Network at Bournemouth University is currently accepting applications for presentations.

About our Conference:

This is the British Council project with Malaysia. The conference is a collaboration between Universiti Sains Malaysia and Bournemouth University. We aim to inspire and build capacity for sustainability research through a cross-institutional hybrid conference celebrating sustainability research done by students in both universities.
Quality research addressing local and global challenges will be demonstrated and will be a catalyst for inspiring other students and staff to get engaged with similar practices.

Awards:

  • For BU Winners: Turing programme funding for BU students taking part in a citizen science project in Malaysia along USM students.

  • For USM Winners: Mobility grants for 3 USM students for a one-week research internship at BU in June 2024.

  • The top 3 winners will be offered a series of 3 mentoring sessions with prominent researchers in the field.

  • The authors of the Top 10 research projects will be offered the opportunity to take part in online sustainability and research development seminars organised by Bournemouth University and Universiti Sains Malaysia.

    Guide for Authors:

  • Undergraduate, Masters, and PhD students in both universities are

welcome to participate in this chance to share research that is related to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and compete for amazing awards.

Authors are encouraged to submit an abstract of 250-500 words based on their final year research project or another relevant individual assignment, if connected to sustainability and the conference 5 themes.

We appreciate studies that focus on any of the following five themes:

  • Food nutrition and eating behaviour; (SDG 2, 3, and 12)

  • Gender equality (SDG 5)

  • Tourism and Hospitality (SDGs 3, 10, 12)

  • Sustainability marketing and communication (all SDGs)

  • Sustainability and employability (SDG 4, 5 and 8)

Authors can either present a poster or a paper presentation (no full papers required). Each submitted work will go through a review process to ensure quality and adherence to the conference theme.
