Tickets and events organised by affiliated student groups, non SUBU event organisations or others that are in our premises or using our online facilities.

If you have any enquiries you should first contact the affiliated group or organisation directly itself. Each group and each event may have differing terms in relation to refunds. You should check to ensure you understand the terms of purchase before completing your transaction. Their terms and conditions may be in addition to our below.

 

Tickets and events

The Students’ Union at Bournemouth University (SUBU) sells tickets online for events they organise and for others that are organising events in their venues. The venues that SUBU operate include The Old Fire Station, Dylan’s Kitchen and Bar, The Student Centre and the Summer Ball. SUBU does also organise events in other external venues from time to time. External event organisation also use SUBU’s venues from time to time to organise events.

Please ensure you are aware of who is organising the event and which venue is the event is being held in.

 

BRIT Challenge

The BRIT Challenge 2023 Prize Draw is open to any current BU student and staff member who reports activity for the challenge via the central form. The Prize draw closes on Sunday 5th March (midnight), when the winners will be randomly selected after this date from the people who stated their intent to enter the draw. The prizes are a £10 Dylans Voucher, £6 Coffee and Cake Ground Up Voucher, SUBU Club/ Society membership up to the value of £50, a Bournemouth University Hoodie, 1 term gym membership for SportBU, £25 pound ev2 merchandise voucher from SportBU, TeamBU beanie hat.

 There is no cash alternative to any prize. SUBU accepts no responsibility for injuries or similar caused by taking part in the random acts of kindess BRIT Challenge.

 

Speak Week

The Speak Week November 2023 Prize Draw is open to any current BU student. The Prize draw closes at 5pm on Friday 24th November, when the winners will be randomly selected from those who provided their email addresses. The prizes are 4 tickets to Marvo Mysteries Escape Room Bournemouth, 2 tickets to SKATE Bournemouth, 1 £30 gift voucher to a Supermarket of your choice, 1 BU Hoodie. There is no cash alternative to the prize.

 

General

SUBU sell tickets online 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

There is a booking fee for our online ticket services, this is as competitive as possible and where possible cheaper than other comparable booking services.

All tickets are sold subject to these terms and conditions.

E-tickets

Tickets purchased as "E-Tickets" will be emailed to the email address registered to your account or used during your purchase – PLEASE ENSURE IT IS CORRECT. If you do not receive an e-mail upon completing a purchase, please check your Junk or Spam folder.

Please print and bring your E-Ticket with you to the event, ensuring the barcode is clear for our scanners to read.

E-tickets are not transferable.

 

Refunds

Refunds are available only if the event has been cancelled. If this is the case then please contact your point of purchase. This does not affect your statutory rights.

 

Age Restrictions

Some events will have an age restriction, it is your duty to ensure you abide by this and can provide suitable proof of age at the event. Suitable ID accepted are: a valid PASS approved form of I.D. card,  a valid Passport or a valid driving licence. If you are unable to provide proof of age, you maybe refused entry or refused service at our licenced bars.

Regular nightclub events are age 18+ unless specifically noted on the event page.

Live music concerts can have different age restrictions (under 14, over 14, over 16 and over 18) and may require young people to be accompanied.

Live comedy is normally 18+.

Alcohol will only ever be sold to people 18+.

 

Bringing guests into restricted events

Some events are restricted to members of the SUBU and their guests only (this will be clear on the event listing and promotion).

SUBU members will be required to bring a valid Student Card and arrive at the same time as their guests. The number of guests allowed to attend with a member may vary (for example Lollipop at Old Fire Station allows 2 guests per SUBU member) and will advertised on the event listing.

If you are a SUBU member with guests you are responsible for the behaviour of your guest whilst at the event. You will be subject to disciplinary procedures if your guests break our rules, regulations, the law or their behaviour is unacceptable.

 

Behaviour

A breach of any of these terms and conditions or behaviour deemed by the venue or event manager to be unacceptable will result in ejection from the venue and a possible ban from the premises. In serious cases, the Police or University may be informed. Unacceptable behaviour includes but is not limited to;

  • Behaviour which is likely to cause intimidation
  • Abusive or discriminatory behaviour
  • Behaviour that causes damage, nuisance, or injury to self or others
  • Behaviour that places others at risk
  • Behaviour that breaches the law
  • Behaviour that breaches SUBU rules, policies or regulations

Students are reminded that they are required to conduct themselves within the expectations placed on both members of the Students’ Union and Bournemouth University.

 

Tickets

SUBU sells tickets on behalf of SUBU, promoters, producers, performers and venues. The tickets you purchase remain the property of the promoter/SUBU.

Tickets purchased from SUBU may be subject to a per ticket booking fee and additional postage fee.

Tickets may be restricted to a maximum number per person to discourage unfair ticket buying practices. SUBU reserve the right to cancel tickets purchased in excess of this number without prior notice.

If tickets are posted it will be to the address provided at time of purchase. SUBU will not be responsible for any tickets that are lost or stolen.

It is your responsibility to check your tickets; mistakes cannot always be rectified.

Tickets are sold subject to the event organisers right to alter or vary the programme due to events or circumstances beyond its reasonable control without being obliged to refund monies or exchange tickets.

At the request of the organiser a partial or full refund can be issued to the purchaser if an event is cancelled. Only face value will be refunded. Booking fees and postage are non-refundable.

If an event is cancelled or rescheduled, SUBU will use reasonable endeavours to notify ticket holders once relevant authorisation from the organiser has been received.

The venue may on occasions have to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of the patrons. If you refuse permission for your possessions and person to be searched you may be refused access or removed from the venue.

There is no readmission to events, if you leave the event you are out.

SUBU accepts no responsibility for any personal property.

Breach of any of these terms and conditions or any unacceptable behaviour likely to cause damage, nuisance or injury shall result in ejection from the venue.

SUBU reserve the right to refuse entry of any patrons.

Events hosted by external event organisers may have additional terms and conditions that apply. Please refer to the specific event for full details.

Ticket holders give their express consent to their actual or simulated likeness to be included within any film, photograph, video, audio and/or audiovisual recording in relation to the event and/or any element thereof and such film, photograph, video, audio and/or audiovisual recording to be exploited in any and all media for any purpose at any time throughout the world. This includes filming by the police or security which may be carried out for the security of customers.

Smoking is not permitted in the venue and offenders will be ejected.

SUBU operate a zero tolerance towards to possesion and use of illegal substances within its events and venues. Offenders will be refused entry, removed from our premises, have suspect substances deposited in a Police safe and be referred to the Police.

Many events will feature loud music, flashing lighting effects and video screens.

The unauthorised use of photographic and recording equipment is prohibited. Tapes or films may be destroyed.

Laser pens, immitation weapons (including toys and novelty items), and patron’s own food and drink may also be prohibited.

No dogs (except assistance dogs).
