As part of our Upcycling and Creative Mending Team, you will help people facing poverty around the world by putting your creativity, sewing skills and passion to great use. Using fabrics, clothing and accessories donated to the shop, you will help support the slow fashion movement and reduce waste going to landfill.
This role is very flexible and can be carried out 'offsite'. The Shop Manager will provide you with a selection of items/materials that they are unable to sell as they are. Once you have signed them out, and agreed on a completion date, you will be able to take them away and start working your magic!
All items will be sold through the shop, raising vital funds to help fight poverty.
In this role you will:
- Put your creativity and sewing skills to good use by upcycling.
- Slow down fast fashion by making the most of our fantastic donations.
- Work as part of a team to mend, upcycle or re-use donated textiles.
- Help to display your completed items in the shop.
- Promote the shop and increase sales by sharing your creations on social media, or at University events.
Volunteering can be very flexible to suit you, and this role allows you to work remotely and in your own time. By volunteering for a few hours a week, you will get to meet new people and have some fun for a good cause. Putting your creativity and sewing skills to good use, either working as part of a team or independently.
After you apply, the manager will ask you to come in for an initial chat. This is not an interview, just a chance to get an idea of what you'd like to do, how many hours and when you would like to start. You will also get a chance to meet the rest of the volunteer team and take a tour around the shop.

This role requires you to have current sewing skills. We will support you and provide all the training you require if you would to try out any other roles in the shop.
