The Disabilities, Accessibility and Neuro-Diverse (DAND) Network is a space for students who self-define within this group to connect, support each other, and advocate for issues that impact you - whether here at Bournemouth University or on a national level.

This network welcomes students with physical, sensory and/or hidden disabilities, mental health conditions, and those who want to be allies. You can self-define to become part of our community, learn more about being an ally, or to submit your suggestions. Any BU student who self-defines will become part of our safe and confidential space to discuss disability-related topics.

We have worked to improve accessibility at BU, organised events for Disability History Month, led the ‘Not All Disabilities Are Visible’ campaign to raise awareness of hidden disabilities, and passed a policy for sunflower lanyards for students who may need them.

Get Involved

Want to help shape your community? Become a Liberation Volunteer to work with SUBU to deliver your own events and campaigns, or work with your elected DAND Officer on events and projects. 

From awareness stalls to casual socials, education talks to open mics, panels, parties, and picnics - we want to help you bring your ideas to life, and you can make it happen. What will you do for your community?

You can volunteer just once for something specific, or do something consistent throughout the year - the choice is yours.
