Our Society:
The Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Society brings together healthcare students with a passion for emergency medicine beyond the hospital setting. We offer CPD events, peer-led skills and simulation-based learning (SML), career insight, networking opportunities, and exposure to pre-hospital emergency care—helping members build confidence and practical skills.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD):
We host regular CPD events featuring expert guest speakers who cover a wide range of topics, from communication skills and ECG interpretation to motorcycle trauma and other pre-hospital emergencies. Our events are shaped by you. We regularly ask our members what they want to learn about and source the best experts to deliver sessions on those topics. All attendees receive a CPD certificate for each event, which can be added to your professional portfolio—there’s no such thing as starting too early.
While our content is primarily aimed at students in health and social sciences, the society is open to everyone. If you’re interested in pre-hospital emergency care, we’d love you to join us.
Social Events:
It’s not all work and CPD! Our social events give members a chance to get to know each other and take a break from our busy courses. From walks and relaxed sober socials to pub trips and other surprises, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
Support:
We aim to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all our members. We know the unique challenges that come with healthcare degrees - from the joys (and stress!) of practical exams to trying to maintain a sleep schedule during placements and we’re here to help each other through it. To assist our members, we offer exam preparation sessions and Q&A events, providing the opportunity to gain guidance and insight from students with relevant experience.
Committee members are available to offer guidance and support to any member who may need it.
5* Society:
We're very excited to announce that as of 24th November 2025 we have reached 5* Society Status!
Memberships & Tickets:
Annual membership is £5.00, which includes free tickets to all our evening CPD sessions.
Individual evening CPD event tickets will be £2.00, open to both BU students and external students
Tickets will be available through our SUBU page, and all upcoming events will be announced on our Instagram and WhatsApp group—so keep an eye out to see what’s coming up! If you encounter any issues when purchasing your membership, please contact us and we’ll be happy to assist.
Not a BU student but interested in joining? No problem! Associate memberships are also £5.00 per year, so invite your friends to sign up and join the fun.
When and Where?
Most of our events take place in the Bournemouth Gateway Building during the evenings—perfect for fitting around your lectures and placements. Occasionally, we host off-site events, and members will be notified in advance through our WhatsApp group so you won’t miss out!
