Shout Out is the main feedback tool for BU and SUBU - you can feedback on anything from your course, how you find the bus services, to what food we serve at Dylan's Bar! 

Feedback about your student experience is important to BU and SUBU. Tell us what's working well, what needs changing or any new ideas to improve your student experience.

‘Works Well’ feedback

This lets staff know what is working well and what students want to see more of.

‘Works Less Well’ feedback

This helps inform staff of the issues your peers are facing so you can work together to find a useful solution.

‘New ideas’

This lets BU know what new things students want to see on their course or campus e.g more gluten free food.

Where does your feedback go?

Academic feedback

Student Reps take your feedback to Student Staff Forums (SSFs). In these meetings, Student Reps and staff from your programme discuss submitted feedback and work together to address the topics. 

Services feedback

Once a month, services are sent their Shout Out feedback to review and address. You will then be updated with any outcomes via your Rep or via Shout Out.

Meetings

Heads of Schools review Shout Out feedback every month and discuss how to address it in Faculty Education and Student Experience Committees (FESECs).

Anonymity

Your feedback is anonymised and then shared with elected Student Reps and sometimes SUBU or BU services, depending on what your feedback is about.

Feedback submitted must be in line with BU's Student Conduct policy.

 

Any feedback that breaches BU or SUBU's Student Conduct policy will be referred through the BU and SUBU conduct policies.

Tips for using Shout Out

Make sure you select the correct topic for your feedback - this affects which services can view and address it.

Include lots of detail and be specific - this can help staff to fully understand your feedback and address it correctly.

 

Submit feedback of any size - it is helpful for staff to know all feedback, whether that is a small piece of positive feedback or a small thing for improvement. All feedback helps improve the academic and student experience by knowing what 'works well' or what 'works less well' on any scale.

What happens to your feedback?

1. Speak to your Student Rep or raise feedback through Shout Out.

2. Your feedback is shared with services such as the Library, IT and SUBU or to Staff by your Student Rep.

 

3.Services or Reps and staff work to action feedback, where possible.

 

4.Services update you via Shout Out, or your Rep and staff updates you.

 

5.Your student experience is improved!
