AFC Bournemouth sign Davis on season-long loan

Scott Parker has added left-back Leif Davis to his squad ahead of the new campaign with the defender joining from Leeds United on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old defender comes in after the departure of Diego Rico earlier this week to bolster Parker’s options at the back but will not feature in tonight’s friendly against Chelsea.

Bournemouth have negotiated a clause that could allow Davis to sign on a permanent deal should they wish to exercise that option.

Davis joined Leeds in 2018 just days after Marcelo Bielsa took charge of the Yorkshire side and made his debut for the club in December 2018 in a 3-2 win over Aston Villa in the Championship.

The highly-rated defender went on to make two Premier League appearances under Bielsa in late 2020 and has been used as a centre back in his time in Leeds’ under 23’s squad.

It is the Cherries second signing under new boss Parker with Emiliano Marcondes coming in earlier this month on a free transfer from Brentford.

Parker will be taking a look at Kyle Edwards though, who is on trial at the club after being released from West Brom at the end of last season. The exciting winger made 49 appearances for the Baggies, five of which came in the Premier League and is on the bench ahead this evening’s tie with the European champions

The new season is fast approaching and the visit of Chelsea is Parker’s last opportunity to prepare his team before the competitive action starts with MK Dons visiting Vitality Stadium on Saturday 31 in the Carabao Cup.
