"It's going to be great," said Thom Rylance, vocalist with The Lottery Winners, ahead of the band's Bournemouth concert later this month.

The indie pop group from Leigh will perform at the Bournemouth O2 Academy on Friday, February 21 as part of their latest tour.

"It's a big leap for us to be playing a room of that size," Thom said.

"I'm excited for it. I think I was born for it."

The group are celebrating the release of KOKO, their fourth studio album.

The title translates to 'Keep on Keeping On,' a phrase that Thom's family has always said.

"It's all about reflection and dealing with difficult things," Thom said about the album.

He added his songs were always personal, noting they have to be 'authentic.'

"There's nothing more transparent than a disingenuous song."

The band's latest single was penned through Whatsapp, with Thom writing You Again alongside Jon McClure from Reverend and the Makers.

The new album follows 2023's Anxiety Replacement Therapy, which reached the top of the UK Album Charts.

Thom said there's an 'immense pressure' to get to number one again, adding he is always thinking of new promotion ideas.

Once again joining the band in what is becoming 'a bit of a tradition,' Hampshire folk singer Frank Turner will collaborate for a song on KOKO.

"I've always been a fan [of Frank Turner]," Thom said.

"Just the entire way he operates is incredible.

"He is the one of the most prolific giggers I've ever met."

As one of the most exciting rising bands at the moment, The Lottery Winners are constantly on tour, much to Thom's delight.

"We tour a lot and I love it.

"I get a lot of affirmation from doing gigs."

They are even supporting the legendary Robbie Willams this summer, with Thom calling his new friendship with the Angels hitmaker 'surreal.'

"We've been chatting four to five times a week," he said.

"We've both got an awful lot in common.

"There's a real bromance going on."

Of course, Thom has seen the Better Man, the Robbie Williams biopic, multiple times, calling it the 'best film that's been out for a long time.'

He added, though, he is susceptible to being influenced by biopics.

"I watched the Bob Dylan film and was immediately him for a bit," Thom said.

On what might happen after the release of the upcoming Beatles film, Thom joked:

"If The Lottery Winners were The Beatles, I would be Paul, John and George and the rest would be Ringo!"

KOKO by The Lottery Winners will be released on March 21st by Modern Sky.
