The Students’ Union at Bournemouth University’s award-winning radio station, Nerve Radio, will broadcast live across Dorset next week to mark its 30th anniversary.

From Monday 3rd to Friday 7th February 2025, students will deliver a diverse range of live shows on 87.9FM, broadcasting directly from the Students’ Union building at Bournemouth University.

This event not only reaches residents but also gives students invaluable experience working under Ofcom regulations, preparing them for future careers in the industry.

This milestone follows Nerve Radio’s recent success at the 2024 Student Radio Awards (SRA) where the station won three awards, including Silver for ‘Best Event Programming’. The accolade recognised last year’s live music gig broadcast on FM, an event that will return this year on Friday 7th February at the Students’ Union campus bar, Dylan’s.

Bournemouth University students are invited to the free event, which will feature live performances from local artist Archie Ray. More information about the live event at Dylan's can be found here.

Jacob Dyer, Station Manager at Nerve Radio, said: “We are thrilled to be hosting Nerve FM, our biggest event of the year! This year is particularly special for us as we celebrate Nerve Radio’s 30th anniversary on air.

"The response has been incredible so far, with more FM show applications than we could have ever imagined. It’s amazing to see so much enthusiasm from our student radio presenters for this opportunity.

"We’re also excited to bring back our Dylan’s Takeover, which was a massive success last year – especially after its recognition at the recent Student Radio Awards!"
