Reps Hub

The Rep Hub is your 24/7 open access resource for all things Student Rep!

The pages below houses all the resources related to your activities including training guides, frequently asked queries and important things you need to know around SUBU and BU policy. Think there's something missing? Let the team know at reps@bournemouth.ac.uk

Key responsibilities

1. Collecting feedback

As a Rep, your role is to gather and share feedback to improve the student experience and highlight existing good practice. You’ll need to speak to students on your course, gather any opinions or feedback they may have, and submit this through Shout Out.

2. Representing feedback

Twice a semester, you’ll be invited to Student Staff Forums to represent the feedback you have been collecting. Before this meeting, you’ll need to request a Shout Out report from us. You can do so by emailing reps@bournemouth.ac.uk.

3. Sharing feedback

After the Student Staff Forum, you need to share any outcomes to your course mates, letting them know what is happening as a result of their feedback.

Preparing for a Student Staff Forum

To view the feedback you have submitted and to prepare for a Student Staff Forum, you will need to request a report from us.

  • Request a report — email reps@bournemouth.ac.uk for a Shout Out feedback report for your cohort, level or programme at least two days before your SSF. It will show all feedback.
  • See your own feedback — log in and click ‘View my feedback’ to see all your submissions.
  • Collect first — make sure you have collected feedback before an SSF so you have something to discuss.

Attending Student Staff Forums

  • Be clear — being clear in describing the issues is important. Having a clear example of student experience can keep your meeting on track and reinforce the point.
  • Represent — remain neutral and unbiased. You can add your insight as a student if asked, but remember you are representing the collective students and their feedback.
  • Discuss — be prepared for questions, or for your feedback to be debated. Ensure you are ready to explain or support your feedback with evidence.

Sharing Feedback Outcomes

  • Social groups — use your class group chats to share a short overview of outcomes. What are you doing or what have you done with their feedback?
  • Student Voice Logs — Student Voice Logs are spreadsheets linked on Brightspace - programme teams update these with outcomes from the Student Staff Forums. Direct students here to highlight progress on their feedback.
  • Lectures and seminars — ask your lecturer for time at the end of a class to update students on what you have been working on.
  • Be proactive — don’t wait until your next SSF for an update. Check in with your programme team and relay this to your peers.

Request a Shout Out Report by emailing us on reps@bournemouth.ac.uk. Please include your level of study.
