New Tottenham Boss Ange Postecoglou was happy as his side defeated The Cherries 2-0.

He thought the first half was especially encouraging: “The first half I thought was really good, We knew that watching Bournemouth in the first couple of games they were going to be pretty aggressive with their press, especially at home”

Spurs had a shaky start to the second half as Bournemouth piled on the pressure but the Australian made two pivotal changes to his side to settle the game and soon after the club from North London doubled their lead putting the game to bed.

“We scored our second goal and I thought we had control for the rest of the game, even in the moments we weren’t totally in control of the game, you know we never let them threaten our goal”.

Richarlison had another tough game up top, failing to step up in the absence of Harry Kane, Postecoglou still has faith in the Brazilian: “It’s part of life mate, it’s part of your football career, you are going to go through tough moments. He has just got to keep contributing to the team and contributing to us”.

The Spurs boss believes that goals being scored by different players is more significant than just through the striker as it had been done in the past with Harry Kane and he backs his number nine to pull through.

“He’s a good footballer and he will get his goals, but more importantly he keeps contributing to what we do as a team, because ultimately we’re not going to get to where we want to be, from just one player scoring goals.”

One player making his mark is summer signing James Maddison, the England International has two assists and scored his first goal for the club at the Vitality Stadium.  When asked if he was the bargain of the summer, Ange laughed: “45 Million Pound bargain? I don’t know what world you live in mate, Look there wasn’t anyone happier than me when he signed, I was delighted”

The Spurs boss believes he has settled into life in north London very well:  “The way he has embraced the whole club, he really wants to be the creative force”.

Towards the end of the game the fans were singing “We’ve got our club back”, Ange responded with “They’re obviously a key part of this, we need their energy and they were outstanding today”.

Tottenham are back in action facing Fulham on Tuesday night in the League Cup.
