The FMC Film Club will hold a screening of Jon Akomfrah's highly praised documentary The Stuart Hall Project (2013). Jamaican-born Stuart McPhail Hall (1932-2014) was one of the leading figures in the Birmingham School of Cultural Studies and the New Left. The film explores Hall's influence on the construction of post-war black British identity through the use of archive material of Hall's radio and television appearances.

The film screening will be followed by a roundtable discussion chaired by Professor Candida Yates. The participants are:

Ian Gwinn, Lecturer, Bournemouth University

Samantha Iwowo, Film and TV director & Lecturer

Lurraine Jones, Acting Head of Social Sciences, University of East London
