Very special event for International Women's Day and Women's History Month! Join us for this talk on the relationship between witchcraft and womanhood. We will touch on a range of things in this broad and fascinating topic. For example, did you know that the witch trials in Europe and the Americas were, in large part, a tool of oppression towards women, as a backlash against increasing financial independence. This disproportionately affected WOC, queer women, and herbalists and healers. We will also examine the role of women in pagan and neo-pagan faiths and how this differs from other worldviews during the era of Pagan cultures being colonised, as well sexism vs. female empowerment in the roots of Wicca. This will also lead us into media portrayals of both womanhood and witchcraft, and how stereotypes around the "deadly and seductive" witch figure can be harmful towards women and witches - but can also be used as a tool of liberation and reclamation. Plus, lots more! Hope you see you then!"
