About Us - FlowState Calisthenics Society
FlowState Calisthenics Society is built to make structured fitness accessible, affordable, and effective for students.
University life can be busy and expensive, especially for students managing studies, work, and living costs, and for international students adjusting to a new environment. Gym memberships and personal training can quickly become costly, and many students are unsure where to start with exercise or how to train safely.
Our society provides a practical alternative through regular, guided calisthenics sessions that use bodyweight training to develop strength, mobility, balance, and overall fitness without the need for machines or expensive equipment.
With two to three structured 90-minute sessions each week, members have a consistent opportunity to train, stay active, and improve their physical wellbeing in a supportive, student-friendly environment.
Whether you are completely new to exercise or looking to develop better movement control and strength, our sessions are designed to be approachable, progressive, and enjoyable. The focus is on long-term health, discipline, and learning skills rather than quick results or extreme training.
Our aim is to remove common barriers to fitness and help students build habits that they can maintain throughout university life and beyond.
What is Calisthenics?
Calisthenics is a form of strength training that uses bodyweight movements such as push-ups, pull-ups, squats, handstands, and skill-based exercises.
It improves:
• Strength and muscle control
• Balance and coordination
• Mobility and joint health
• Core stability
• Body awareness
Unlike traditional gym training, calisthenics focuses on mastering movement and building control over your own body.
