Setting up a petition is one of the ways that students can influence decisions and decide upon Union Policy.  Petitions can also be used to hold Union Officers to account or to call a referendum on any issue or policy.

You must be a current BU student to submit a proposal for a petition.  The petition must contain the students’ full name and their University ID number.

Once a petition has been submitted, the Executive Committee shall review the submission within two calendar weeks and, if the Executive Committee approves the petition, it shall be made available on the system for other students to sign. The Executive Committee may request a student to amend a petition or refuse to approve a petition if it believes, for example, that it breaches University or Union policies, or is not sufficiently clear.
