Black History Month

Black History Month takes place every October. Throughout the month SUBU will be bringing together a programme of unique, eye opening, and thought provoking events. There will be speakers from across the nation joining us to raise awareness of the contemporary issues and debates around Black History, as well as film screenings, talent showcases and celebrations.

Transgender Awareness Month

Transgender Awareness Week takes place in November and is a time for transgender people and their allies to take action and bring attention to the community by educating the public and advancing advocacy around the issues of prejudice, discrimination, and violence that transgender people face.

Disability History Month

UK Disability History Month takes place each year from November 22nd to December 22nd, raising awareness of and providing a platform to people with disabilities in all forms. Since the first UK Disability History Month in 2010, there has been a huge increase in interest and engagement with the month.

February marks LGBT History Month, first started in 2005. At SUBU we mark the month with a collection of activities to explore the history of the LGBT community and provide space for LGBT students to celebrate their "being", both historical and present.
