Our Strategy
We want students at Bournemouth University to be the happiest in the country. Our strategy for 2025/28 sets out how SUBU will work towards that, both now and into the future.
Why student happiness?
University is a huge chapter of your life. It can be exciting, overwhelming, and above all, lifechanging. At SUBU, we believe students thrive when they feel supported, connected, and able to be themselves. That’s why student happiness sits at the heart at the heart of our strategy for the next three years.
Our focus areas
SUBU's strategy has been built around four key themes. Together, they shape how we support students and create a happier student experience at BU.
Togetherness
Because uni feels better when you’ve found your people. Togetherness is about helping students connect, whether that be through societies, sports, communities, causes and shared experiences.
Purpose
Purpose is about feeling like your voice matters. Whether it’s representing students, leading change, or getting involved in something that means something to you, SUBU exists to help students make an impact, no matter how big or small.
Wellbeing
Burnout shouldn’t be a personality trait. Wellbeing means accessible, non-judgemental support when life feels heavy, whether that’s money worries, housing issues, academic pressure, or personal challenges.
Identity
University is a time of becoming. SUBU is here to make sure students can show up as their true selves. Confidently, safely, and without needing to explain who they are.
