Preparing and writing articles, wildlife and habitats with special reference to domestic and community gardens and generally educating the public on these subjects.
Remote post to help the work of the Trust by researching/writing about garden wildlife/habitats. The documents produced will be for public education on our website.
Each post can last for as long as the individual wishes (e.g. one year/one term/whatever). So you can volunteer at your own pace whenever you have the time. It is also important that it does not detract from your university studies.
The Trust is a registered charity for the advancement of education in horticulture and conservation. The garden is organic and wildlife takes precedence. The Trust also has a code of practice with regards to rights of non-human life. In both the house and the garden the carbon footprint is being reduced and measures for ecological living undertaken.
This post is for someone to take help with any aspects of the research and writing for Wildlife and Habitats of the Trust especially regarding domestic gardens. For example: 1. Repairing and maintaining animal homes.2. Constructing new ones. 3. Research improving conditions and planting in gardens for wildlife. 4. Writing guides for the public on how to make bird and bat boxes, bug hotels etc 5. Writing guides for the public on how to attract wildlife to their garden. 6. Writing guides for the public on how create wildlife friendly corners & conditions. 7. The manager can also devise and give their own workshops in the garden here for young people. 8. Research and make connections with organisations who may want to work with us.

The volunteer writer will research and write guides chosen from a list supplied. But may also make suggestions of other subjects. The finished material will be stored in the Trust archives and disseminated to the public. The manager will be given authorial credit. The material may be used in future publications by the Trust. This is a voluntary role for a registered charity. Volunteering will improve your skills and c.v. When recruiting staff employers often favour applicants who have done volunteering work.
Once completed you can list the Trust as one of your References for job applications.
