Changing Lives Through Surfing!

Volunteer Surf Mentor

12 Apr 2026 - 17 May 2026

Help provide surf therapy to improve the mental health and wellbeing of kids aged 8-18.

Help improve the lives of children aged 8-18 by providing 1:1 surf mentoring. No experience is needed, you just need to like getting wet and being outdoors. You need a positive, encouraging outlook. You don't need to be able to surf, we have surf coaches to do that.

We meet at Branksome Dene Beach on Sunday mornings 10-12 for surf therapy and then for kids who have passed surf therapy we have a surf club session on Sunday afternoons from 12.30- 2.30. We provide all wetsuits and equipment.

All Safeguarding and beach training and DBS is provided by The Wave Project. Surf instruction and equipment is provided by shakasurf.

Come and help improve the mental health and wellbeing of our kids and improve your own at the same time with a group of positive and sociable people; you will make new friends and learn some surfing skills yourself.

Autumn sessions end in early October but we recruit through the winter to start again in April. So, if you are interested the winter is a good time to get trained, get DBS done and ready to go in Spring with our new kids.
