Volunteer Drama Group Facilitator

The volunteer Drama Group Facilitator will lead and manage weekly drama sessions, encouraging participation and helping members develop skills in acting, improvisation, character development, and stagecraft. You will collaborate with our team to create an inclusive space where all members feel comfortable expressing themselves and exploring the performing arts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Session Planning and Leadership: Plan and deliver structured drama activities, warm-ups, and exercises suitable for a mixed-ability group.
  • Creating a Supportive Environment: Work alongside staff and other volunteers to ensure a welcoming, friendly, and safe atmosphere that encourages self-expression and teamwork.
  • Skill Development: Help members build confidence, communication, and vocational skills through drama-based activities and potential performance opportunities.
  • Collaboration: Liaise with staff regarding resources, scheduling, and individual member needs to ensure a smooth and effective session.
  • Inclusion: Engage all members in activities, adapting exercises as needed to accommodate different abilities and interests.

Time Commitment:

  • When: Every Monday morning
  • Time: 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
  • Location: The Bridge, Access Dorset, Littledown, Chaseside, Bournemouth, BH7 7BX

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in drama, theatre, or performing arts facilitation (prior formal teaching experience is not required, but enthusiasm and knowledge are essential).
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment, including staff and other volunteers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive atmosphere.
  • Reliability and a proactive approach to leading sessions.
